This is a strange and enchanting ghost story, set in a no-man's land between the eighteenth and twentieth century - a fourth dimension where Lucian the handsome dissatisfied eighteenth-century rake uses his frail unwordly sister Juliana as a means to project himself into the future and court the twentieth-century Jan, the girl he has only seen in his dreams. First published in 1924, this is a 1963 Peacock edition with a cover illustration by Janet Duchesne.
